Staff & Volunteers
Our leaders, practitioners, and community volunteers bring a wealth of experience and expertise in working and volunteering with young people. We have a clear vision to transform the lives of young people, by nurturing their capacity to thrive, and this is at the core of every decision we make. Our trauma-informed child-centered practice is embedded into our culture and ethos to support healing, growth, and self-awareness.
We hold the safeguarding of young people at the heart of all that we do. Our whole team, including Trustees and volunteers, are DBS checked, trained in safeguarding and child protection as a minimum, and every session has at least one paediatric and outdoor education first aider present.

Beverley Cook
Chief Executive Officer & DSO
Bev serves as the CEO, Designated Safeguarding Officer, and Learning Guide, bringing a wealth of expertise to her role. She is an accredited Nurture Practitioner through NurtureUK, Youth Mindfulness Practitioner, and a dedicated environmentalist.
Bev is an eternal optimist and a strategic, systems thinker, who believes in the power of collaboration, hard work, and staying true to one’s values, to achieve great things. She spent 25 years in the environment sector leading sustainability programmes on complex construction projects, such as Heathrow’s Terminal 5, and working with Boards across the sector to define and implement sustainability Strategy.
As a parent to three young adults and a school governor for 13 years, Bev holds a deep understanding of the escalating mental health crisis facing young people, recognising the role that education and social systems play. She believes “young people don’t need fixing, it’s their environment that needs to change, and the way we hold space for them so they can be their amazing authentic selves – this is what we set out to achieve at Huckleberries”.
Through her passion to improve outcomes for children, provide an alternative to the educational system, that is failing too many young people, and her love of all things outdoors, Bev founded Huckleberries Nurture Farm in her back garden in 2019 as a Community Interest Company. During 2020 she developed the new site in Elstead with family and friends, which opened in June 2020. In 2024, Huckleberries was registered as a Charity, and all operations transitioned from the CIC to be delivered wholly by the charity in January 2025.
